Today I bask in the thoughts and love of my mother as we celebrate her birthday. I thank the Lord for her. I love and appreciate her more than I ever did before. Her love for our family is unwavering and unchanging.
When I was just a kid, she was there for me – in all my tantrums, my demands, and my silly ways. When I became a teenager, she was all the more there for me – seeing me through in my wild days, forgiving my wrong choices, hurting when I was in pain and still believing in me when I had given up already.
Now I’m a grown up woman and miles away, she is still there for me – wishing me all the best in life, longing to see me, praying for all my days, my safety, my comfort, and my happiness.
My sisters and I will forever be grateful for her selfless love, patience and faith that have seen us through all these years. “You are the best things that ever happened in my life and the most precious gifts from above,” she told us once. Those words will eternally echo in my head and melt my heart for her.
Her capacity to love, to forgive, to suffer, to laugh, to endure, to dream, to hold on, and to keep us all together is tremendously amazing! It’s beyond me. Her laughter, her smiles, her songs, and her lavish ways of loving us bring cheers to my soul. It took me more than 20 years to really see her and feel her heart this way.
Mama – you are beautiful, irreplaceable. I love you more each day.
