We made a trip to Kuala Lumpur two months ago for a conference. It was about five-hour bus ride from Singapore. It gave me some time to think, be quiet, and enjoy the green countryside. I was so thrilled because it made me feel like I was back home – back to some good, old memories.
I smiled in my heart as I remembered the days when I was young and wild.
I remember how my friends and I enjoyed our strolls and motorcycle rides out of town. Those were the days when all we could think of and care about were things like where to hang out next, how to get our parents’ permission for a beach outing, where to get our drinks for a party, what to tell our parents when we go home pretty late, or how to sneak out of the house for a night stroll! Haha!
I have grown older. My concerns have changed. Now I have to deal with finances responsibly, think about my future, care more about my relationships, pursue my passion, and invest my life in more meaningful ways. I say all these not with sadness or regret, but with amazement as I look back how I walked through these different seasons in my life. I’ve realized my mistakes, remembered my achievements, embraced my wounds, laughed at the good times, cried for my losses, and see faces of family and friends who were part of my precious childhood and teenage years.
Yes, the bus ride took me back to the good, wild days.
Sure looked like you had fun! =)
